But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control . Against such there is no law.
-Galatians 5:22-23
It's not the tolerance of the storm but the attitude while being thrown, tossed, engulfed inside of it.
There has only been 54 days of the new year and it has rained in almost all of them. And not gentle, falling on a tin roof romantic rain. No, this rain is tough. Loud. Dangerous. Its accompanied by sharp and swift winds in the valleys and freezing blizzards on the mountain tops. Theres absolutely no place, not yoga class, work or even nuzzled up at home, that you are not reminded of the crazy storm that is going on around you....But funny thing when it finally settles, the mountains and hills are lush and green. The streets and sidewalks look like they’ve been scrubbed clean and for some reason, you can see things so much clearer.
But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded.
-Genesis 8:1
We need to recognize the storm for what it is and stop giving the enemy credit for such a beautiful transformation. Because thats what it is. A movement from what is to something new. And it's your choice to either walk in the light and promises of God [on this new path], or speak death on your situation and wallow in self dramatized victimization.
For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
-Jeremiah 29:11
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are the called according to [his] purpose.
-Romans 8:28
No matter what your storm/attack may be [relationship problems, work related stress, divorce, death of a loved one, anxiety, depression], trust in the promises of the one who fearfully and wonderfully made you. Choose to stand and fight by humbling yourself in your transition and handing it over to God. And whether it may be three months or three years, through it all, fix your eyes on Jesus and you shall know the fruits of longsuffering.
Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him” But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the one who lifts my head high. I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain. I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me. I will not fear though tens of thousands assail on every side.
-Psalms 3:2-6
